Year 7 Boys Development Team Back from Hawkes Bay Camp with Great Results

Day One:
Hamilton Old Boys chose to bowl first at Frimley Park. Kees Boulter and Arlo Ryan had a strong start with the bat and Bren Herbert’s contribution at the end helped Taranaki reach 142. In a spectacular 4th over, Tyler Connole secured a hat-trick and a team double hat-trick. Taranaki bowling out Hamilton for 58 runs in the 16th over.

Day Two:
Rainfall shifted plans, leading to a T20 game against Horowhenua-Kapiti. Taranaki’s strong bowling limited them to 79/8, with Bren Herbert, Hadley Monk and Henri Ballandis each picking up 2 wickets. Jett Boulter was the standout batter, and with the help of Tyler Connole the game was won in the 13th over.

Day Three:
Windsor Park hosted back to back 30 over games. Taranaki won the toss and opted to bowl against the Hawkes Bay Invitational team. The tight bowling continued, and wickets fell, restricting them to 126/10. The invitational team had an exceptional start with a hat-trick in the first over. Bren Herbert and Cole Hopkinson had to settle the nerves and managed a partnership of 70 runs, Cole Hopkinson going on to score 53* retired. Hadley Monk and Donny Mcleod helped Taranaki to victory in the 21st over.

East Coast Bays won the toss and chose to bat. Runs were hard to come by and Henri Ballandis was the pick of the bowlers. Taranaki restricted them to 111/8. Their bowling was impressive and Taranaki experienced a collapse finding themselves at 43-8. Henri Ballandis and Reagan Julie delivered a solid performance with the bat and together with Cole Hopkinson nearly pulled off a win in what was an exciting game that went down to the last wicket. Taranaki falling short by 6 runs.

Day Four:
At Marewa Park against an undefeated Western Bay of Plenty, Taranaki lost the toss and fielded again. Impressive bowling and fielding with Reagan Julie taking 4 catches and Dylan Smith claiming 3 wickets, along with Bren Herbert and Henri Ballandis taking 2 wickets each restricting WBOPs score to 114/10 after 28 overs. Jett Boulter opened the batting and anchored the innings seeing him top score, supported by Hadley Monk and Donny Mcleod. Taranaki going on to win by 3 wickets in the 26th over.
