TARANAKI YEAR GROUP REPRESENTATIVE
Taranaki Cricket will be adopting the Sport New Zealand ‘Balance is Better’ Philosophy from the start of the 2021/2022 season. ‘Balance is Better’ is an evidence-based philosophy to support quality sport experiences for all young people, regardless of ability, needs and motivations. It is about young people staying involved in sport for life and realising their potential at the right time.

With this in mind Taranaki Cricket is moving away from our traditional age group representative programme. Taranaki Cricket will be focusing on providing everyone an opportunity within the primary age group with the first representative teams being the Year 9 & 10 Boys & Girls.
The way we are doing our “trials” have changed for this upcoming season. We recognised the October Holidays wasn’t a fair and accurate representation of our players due to the season not being underway yet. This year we will run a Muster Day in the holidays so we can get all the interested players together. The next stage, they will all be invited to a trial day – these days will be on a Sunday after the season has got underway Dates and Times TBC.
