Stainton Cup
The Stainton Trophy is awarded for outstanding service to Taranaki Cricket. Percy Stainton was a notable New Plymouth identity who was Chairman of the New Plymouth Hospital Board and he had a strong interest in cricket. The estate of Percy Stainton donated the cup to TCA in 1969.

Junior Awards
BRUCE LIFFITON TROPHY – The Liffiton Cup is awarded to a junior cricket intermediate school player who exemplifies superior cricket ability and attainment. Also a person who shows great sportsmanship and is a valued team member both on and off the field.
Bruce Liffiton was heavily involved in Junior Representative Cricket in the 1980’s and 1990’s. During this time he donated the Liffiton Cup in recognition of the most outstanding Year 8 Representative Cricketer from the North Taranaki region. Bruce’s intentions for this award were to recognize the Year 8 Representative player who performed on the field in school and representative cricket. In addition, the player also demonstrated sportsmanship and an exemplary attitude on and off the cricket field.
Nominations are sought from Intermediate school coaches/clubs in November each year with the cup awarded in December.

Senior Awards
FOX HALL TROPHY – Geoff (Fox) Hall dedicated his life to cricket, whether it was playing or coaching. Geoff represented Taranaki from 1950 – 62. He later became selector for Taranaki from 1973-78, 1982-92 and again in 1995-96. Over many of these years Geoff was also the coach and is a Life Member of TCA. Geoff was a loyal and dedicated club man. With the passing of Geoff in 2011, the Hall family donated a trophy in his remembrance. The recipient of the trophy is “a loyal club person that has performed an outstanding feat with bat or ball in any men’s grade competition game”.

ROSS LANDON-LANE CUP – Ross Landon-Lane is a legendary figure on Taranaki’s cricket pitches.
Phantom, as he was known to all, umpired for 30 years at premier and representative level from 1994/95, standing in approximately 600 club and 50 representative matches.
A former TCUSA president, and TCA life member and two-time Stainton Award winner for his services, Phantom’s legacy is honoured and remembered with the Ross Landon-Lane Cup for Umpire of the Year.

Coaching Awards
THELMA LUXTON TROPHY – The Thelma Trophy is an award for the ‘Most Promising Coach’ for Junior Cricket. The coach that goes that extra mile, has good values and is fair minded.
Thelma has been a faithful servant of cricket since 1952, where she started as scorer for her school’s first XI boys’ cricket team and later became the official scorer of all games at Pukekura Park – including World Cup games, visiting international games and New Zealand Youth test. Thelma held roles of Secretary, Treasurer, Chairperson and the ‘make things happen person’ and is a life member of the Waitara Cricket Club. In 1991 and 1999 the Taranaki Cricket Association awarded her the Stainton Trophy for Services to Taranaki Cricket. Thelma received a Queen’s Service Medal in 2017 for services to the community and cricket.
Nominations are sought from Schools/Clubs/Junior Cricket coaches in March each year with the trophy presented at the end of the summer season.
