Over-60’s on the Park

Taranaki’s Over-60s NZ representatives are in the thick of the action at the Over 60s World Cup in Chennai, India at the moment.
The team has one win and two losses from their three matches to date – going down to England on Day 1 by 116 runs. Chasing 292 for the win, NZ finished up 175/9 with Craig Morris making 28 and Greg Alexander 20.
In round two, NZ beat Zimbabwe by seven wickets and this time it was the bowlers chipping in. Roger Stachurski took 2/39 and Greg Shearer 1/29 as Zimbabwe was restricted to 213/8. NZ cruised to victory in the 43rd over.
The round three upset loss to USA saw Morris make another good contribution, finishing on 33 not out as NZ posted 243/6. However, it wasn’t enough to hold out the USA, who chased it down with the loss of seven wickets in the 44th over.
