Taranaki Cricket is thrilled to announce Whitaker Civil Engineering as the organisation’s new principal partner.
Whitaker Civil will also become the naming partner for the Taranaki Cricket Association’s senior men’s cricket side for the next three seasons as part of the agreement.
The engineering firm takes over as principal partner from The Good Home, which will remain in place as the sponsor of TCA’s Twilight competition held from January each year.
TCA General Manager Ryan Evans said he was stoked with the new partnership and that it was an important step for the future of the game in Taranaki.
“We have such a huge community of generous and willing partners and to have Whitaker Civil come on board as our principal partner for the next three years is a great result for the game in our province.”
Whitaker Civil is already a notable supporter of cricket through their support of the FDMC First XI premier side, and through support for the Taranaki Wanderers concept over the years.
Whitaker Civil director Graeme Dravitzki said the partnership was exactly the kind of local-based support the company was all about. “We’re a proud and parochial Taranaki business and we have been for more than 40 years now,” Dravitzki said.
“Getting involved with an organisation like TCA and a sport that has been a part of Taranaki’s culture for well over a century just makes sense and we can’t wait to work with them to keep the game strong in this region.”
Whitaker Civil Engineering was established in 1980 when it was heavily involved in the early development of oil and gas sites across Taranaki. In recent years the company has steadily grown and gained a reputation for delivering a range of complex engineering projects.
Some of the notable projects the company has worked on include the development of the Bell Block bypass, the design and build of the Te Rewa Rewa Bridge and the construction of the Liardet St pedestrian overpass.
Evans said it was a privilege to partner with a company which had been involved in such iconic projects.
“We think of cricket as an iconic sport in our region and we pride ourselves on our can-do attitude, something we can see when we look at Whitaker Civil and what they’ve done for our province over the past 43 years.
“We’re looking forward to getting down to work with them and welcoming them to the team.”
Evans also thanked the Good Home for their three years as TCA’s principal partner.
“Stonesy (owner David Stones) and his team have been great supporters of our organisation and game over the past few years and we’re pleased they’ll be staying involved through the Twilight Cricket competition.”
