Head Coaches for the 2024/25 Whitaker Civil Senior Men’s and Bartercard Women’s Representative Teams Announced

Taranaki Cricket is pleased to announce the head coaches for the senior men’s and women’s representative teams for the coming season.
Christopher Coombe will return for his third year in charge of the Whitaker Civil Engineering Taranaki Men, while Debu Banik is welcomed back to the province, and will take charge of the Bartercard New Zealand Taranaki women’s team for the 2024/25 Shrimpton Trophy campaign.
Coombe said he is looking forward to another year with the Whitaker Civil men’s team, after a mixed 2023/24 campaign that saw the side finish third in the Furlong Cup two-day competition and sixth in the Chapple Cup one-day tournament.
Meanwhile Banik, who spent last season coaching in Counties-Manukau and with Northern Districts, will be a familiar face to many in the Bartercard women’s squad, having last coached the side in 2022.
TCA general manager Ryan Evans welcomed Debu back to the side and said he was well-recognised as a coach with a great track-record of bringing young talent through to higher honours, which made him a great fit for the women’s team which has finished second in the Mike Shrimpton Trophy for the last three seasons and features a number of promising up and coming players.
Debu said he is looking forward to the season and to continuing on the successful journey from last season.
Team managers and full season schedules will be announced in the coming weeks.
