Finals time rolls round for Velocite Lower Divisions
The Velocite Saturday Lower Divisions are down to the knockout stage, with semifinal matches in both Division 1 and Division 2 scheduled for this weekend.
Following an 8-week grading round pre-Christmas the 21 lower division sides split into Divisions 1 (8 teams), Division 2 (8 teams) and Division 3 (5 teams) for the post-Christmas championship round.
In Division 1, NPMU finished top qualifier, going unbeaten post-Christmas and will play host to Auroa at St Joseph’s School on Saturday.
The other semifinal will pit second-placed Pihama against NPOB at Pihama.
In Division 2, the NPMU Hounds dropped just one game to finish on top and will play a Merrilands side that squeaked into the semifinals ahead of Mangorei on net run rate.
Inglewood Blue finished the championship round robin second and will host Fitzroy Black at Karo Park.
The Division 3 final will be played between the two highest finishing qualifiers on March 23.
The Division 1 final will be held next Saturday on Pukekura Park, with the Division 2 final a day later.
