Baker Tilly Women’s Premier Series Set to Resume

Taranaki women’s premier grade cricket action returns this weekend – with a closely fought series on the line and a new partner jumping on board!
Baker Tilly Staples Rodway, who have partnered with the Baker Tilly Century women’s competition previously, will be the new naming partner to the premier grade women’s series.
The competition, a five-match series between Merit RV NPOB and Stratford this year, stands at 1-apiece with one rain off. The two remaining matches, both at Stratford’s Victoria Park are sure to be highly competitive encounters.
Stratford kicked off the series, a new initiative this season, with a 36-run win at Western Park back in October, then Old Boys hit back with a seven wicket win two weeks later at the same venue.
TCA Director of Cricket Chris Coombe said the series had paid real dividends already, and believed it was a big contributing factor to a very strong showing by the Bartercard Taranaki women’s side in the Shrimpton Trophy this year.
“Having our women experience 40-over cricket, on premier level grass strips and with premier standard umpiring was always going to lift standards, and I think we’ve seen that this year,” he said.
Baker Tilly Staples Rodway provides audit and assurance services to TCA and General Manager Ryan Evans said it was brilliant to partner with such a strong supporter of local sports.
“We’re very grateful to Baker Tilly for their support of Taranaki Cricket and our work to build the women’s game in our region.
“The new series has been one of our real success stories of the season and we’re hoping it will continue to build and grow in years to come, and with the support of a team like Baker Tilly that’s off to a good start.
Baker Tilly Staples Rodway is a nationwide business advisory firm, specialising in accountancy, agribusiness, audit, assurance and risk, IT, human resources and marketing services. It has two offices in Taranaki, in New Plymouth and Stratford.
“We’ve got cricketers in our team, and if it’s a passion of theirs it’s a passion of ours,” Director Kylie Hollard said.
“We’re proud to support and encourage growth in women’s sport, and we’re proud to support Taranaki Cricket with audit services and be the new naming rights partner for the premier grade women’s series.”
The firm has been involved with the Baker Tilly Century women’s 100-ball format for the past two seasons. This year, with the introduction of the premier series that competition is becoming a six-aside social tournament held in mid-March.
