Taranaki Year 9/10 Girls Triumph at Central Districts Festival

The Taranaki Year 9/10 Girls cricket team showcased great skill and teamwork, clinching the top spot in the Central Districts Year 9/10 Girls Festival held in Palmerston North.

Winning five out of six games, they ended the tournament on a high note. In the first game of the final day, the Taranaki girls continued their dominance by chasing down a target of 109 in the 18th over set by the CD Invitational team.

Hannah Goodin’s exceptional bowling, claiming 4 wickets for just 7 runs, set the tone for their success. Bryanna Moir (23*) and Alexi O’Byrne (20) were standout performers in the Taranaki innings, contributing significantly to the team’s victory.

The final match saw disciplined bowling from Taranaki, limiting the Manawatu girls to 101 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Casey Duffy, Hannah Goodin, Bryanna Moir, Rebecca Brocklehurst, and Greer Parkes all chipped in with a wicket each. In pursuit of 102, the Taranaki girls displayed positive intent, with Duffy scoring 37 off 27 balls. Greer Parkes added a valuable cameo of 16 off 19 balls, while Lilly Winters (16*) guided the team to victory in the 15th over, securing a convincing 7-wicket win.
