Want to become a coach? Anyone can coach. You might be a current cricketer, a past player, a parent, a teacher, or a fan. Coaching is a great way to express your passion for cricket. It can be extremely satisfying when you can positively influence the people you are engaged with. FOUNDATION & ADVANCED FOUNDATION COURSES will be held in North & South Taranaki.  You must register to attend.  CLICK HERE to register by Wednesday 7th October 2020.

NORTH TARANAKI – Monday 12th October 2020 – “Foundation” & “Advanced Foundation” course for coaches.  Held at the Sulzberger Cricket Centre, Hobson St, New Plymouth. 

5.15pm to 6.30pm – Foundation (online and practical course covering the key aspects of coaching – coaching children for fun and success, managing a group, communication and behaviour, providing feedback, ages and stages of beginner players, coaching practice and basic cricket skills)

6.45pm to 8.45pm – Advanced Foundation (A combination of online and practical modules. Good for people already coaching or assisting 10-18-year olds playing junior or youth cricket for their club or school)

SOUTH TARANAKI – Tuesday 13th October 2020 – CANCELLED


DEVELOPMENT COURSE – This is a blended course which combines online and practical modules and personal study and is intended for those coaches of Secondary School, Youth and Intermediate District teams who have some knowledge and/or playing experience of cricket. It is a minimum qualification for DA representative or secondary school 1st XI coaches.

Taranaki Cricket in conjunction with New Zealand Cricket are offering a fantastic programme for 5-8 year old boys and girls. The Superstar Cricket Academy is a fantastic 6 session fundamental skills programme to start children on the road toward the Black Caps or White Ferns. The cost is $50 for the programme and your child will also receive a fantastic giveaway plastic cricket set given on the 4th week. The 6 sessions will run until Friday 11th December providing no sessions have been rained off/cancelled. If some of the six sessions are cancelled in Term 4 they will restart Friday 12th February 2021.

Registrations close Tuesday 3rd November 2020 with payment due by the 6th November 2020. Payment of $50 by direct credit ONLY to Taranaki Cricket Association’s TSB Bank account: 15-3953-0519606-00 using your child’s name, ‘Superstar’ & the centre they are attending in the reference fields.

We also require parents to get involved with helping at the sessions for the programme to run successfully, so please come along and enjoy some cricket with your child. This is supported with great resources and Taranaki Cricket personnel who coordinate the running of the centres each week.

Brittain Wynyard a supplier of sporting goods that include brands such as G&M and Asics have been supporting Will in his professional career for the last 12 years.

Will, in conjunction with Taranaki Cricket, set up the Will Young Cricket Trust last year.  The aim of the Trust is to endeavour to remove any financial barriers for cricketers from Taranaki aspiring to play the game.  Having Brittain Wynyard on board allows the Trust to help even more cricketers in our province.

TCA encourages anyone to apply to the Trust for things that will assist them in their cricketing journey.

Applications are open throughout the season.

  • All funding applications will be considered on merit.
  • Applications for funding will be called for each cricket season.
  • Each applicant may only make one application per season.
  • Taranaki Cricket will be selecting recipients in a fair and open manner and may seek further information when considering an application.
  • Taranaki Cricket retains the right to verify how the money will be allocated.
  • Taranaki Cricket’s decision is final and no further correspondence will be entered into.
